Urgent Care of Oconee is a walk-in urgent care provider with three clinics in Athens, Watkinsville, and Madison, Georgia, serving Oconee County. This post is the ten-year version of that sentence: how one clinic became three, what got added along the way, and what a decade of walk-in visits taught us about the care this county actually needs.
One Door in 2016, Three Today
The first clinic opened in Watkinsville on September 19, 2016. One waiting room, one X-ray, one idea. If you needed care today, you should be able to get it today.

A note for first-time visitors to Watkinsville. The clinic is Suite 505, inside the building at Butler’s Crossing in the Publix shopping center. Look for the building on the corner, then find Suite 505 inside. It is the single most common question we get from new patients.
The Athens clinic sits on West Broad Street in the same building as Another Broken Egg, near South Bank. That location also serves UGA students, who tend to arrive in force every August.
What Ten Years Added
A walk-in clinic in 2016 and a walk-in clinic today are not the same thing. Most of the difference arrived one piece at a time, because patients kept asking for it.
Urgent Care of Oconee now offers acute illness care, on-site X-ray and diagnostic testing, physical exams, occupational medicine, PRP Therapy, Stem Cell Regeneration, and IV Hydration Therapy.
Some of that is what you would expect from any urgent care. Some of it is not, and that is the more interesting half of the decade.
On-Site X-ray: One Visit Instead of Two
Before the X-ray machine, a rolled ankle on a Friday night meant two stops. First us, then somewhere else for the image, then back again.
That is the change patients notice most. Now a single visit can cover the whole thing.

The scale of the problem is real. In 2022 there were 155.4 million emergency department visits in the United States, and 11.5% of them resulted in a hospital admission, according to the CDC’s National Hospital Ambulatory Medical Care Survey. Most people who go to an ER are treated and sent home the same day, and a good share of those visits are the sprains, cuts, and infections a walk-in clinic handles well.

PRP Therapy and Stem Cell Regeneration
This is the part of the last decade that surprises people. Most urgent care stops at the splint. We went further.
PRP Therapy uses a concentrated portion of your own blood to help the body repair a stubborn injury. It is used for knee arthritis pain, plantar fasciitis and heel pain, chronic tendonitis, shoulder pain, hamstring injuries, and Achilles tendon pain. Treatment runs $650 to $1,000 depending on the area, with a full cost breakdown at your consultation.
Stem Cell Regeneration goes a step further again. It uses the patient’s own bone marrow stem cells, which can develop into muscle, cartilage, and bone, to support healing at the source. The risks are minimal, and it is not something you find at most urgent care clinics in this region.

The tenth year added one more. IV Hydration Therapy launched on August 1, 2026, and it is available at all three locations.

Care Without an Insurance Card
Ten years of walk-ins taught us something uncomfortable. Cost keeps people home when they should be seen.
The UCO Membership Program exists for that reason. It covers unlimited in-clinic visits for $49 per month per person, plus a one-time $150 registration fee, for adults and children, at all three locations, with no appointment needed.
Local employers have the same problem in a different shape. EasyCare for Business puts pre-employment drug screening, DOT physicals, wellness screenings, and workers’ compensation care under one roof at $49 per month per employee plus the $150 registration fee. Groups of 25 or more get a discount.
We also accept most major insurance, including Medicare, Medicaid, Tricare, and VA insurance with a prior referral faxed from the VA clinic.
Ten Septembers in a Row
Flu season is the other constant. Ten years in, we can set a calendar by it. The questions start in September, and the first real wave follows.
We offer flu shots and Tdap at all three clinics. The CDC states that “everyone 6 months and older should get a flu vaccine every season,” and calls a yearly flu vaccine the first and most important step in reducing your risk.

Three things stand out from a decade of Oconee County walking through the door.
People wait too long. The most common thing we see is a problem that was smaller a week ago. Sore throats, ear infections, and small cuts all get harder to treat the longer they sit.
